Cha-Cha

You can do many of the Rumba steps, doing a triple step instead of the slow.

  1. Basic: LF forward, rock step, cha-cha-CHA (L-R-L moving to the left),  RF back, rock step, c-c-C (Man's part)

    Variations:

    1. cha-cha-CHA in place

    2. Progressive: cha-cha-CHA back (and later forth) in line instead of sideways

  2. Natural turn: starting after half box, lift left hand as RF goes back: lady turns

  3. Offset breaks: instead of moving left leg forward, move it front across to the right, as you put lady in promenade position.  (Lady goes back as usual, but in promenade position.)  Face each other with feet together, then to the other side

  4. Cross-overs (New Yorkers): Holding only with left hand, push left hand together with lady's to the right, as you move left foot through to the right.  Come back facing each other c-c-C, Drop left hand, same to the left.

    To finish:

    1. lady natural turn

    2. symmetrical spin

  5. Fifth position breaks: left foot goes behind right on the quick, rock, together on the c-c-C.  Same to the other side.

    Variations:

    1. let go of open side hands

    2. put hand on the closed side on back

  6. Latin combination #1

    1. basic box

    2. lady natural turn

    3. offset breaks

    4. 5th position

    5. walk left, side to side (promenade like) on c-c-C

    6. instead of rock step, put feet together, as you face each other.  Hold for the c-c-C

    7. rock to the left, c-c-C

    8. rock to the right, c-c-C

  7. Chases: let go of hands, Man left foot forward on quick, spins 180 on 2nd quick, puts feet together for c-c-C..  Right forward on quick, spins 180 on 2nd quick, puts feet together for c-c-C.  Lady does the same, one c-c-C after.

  8. Cross Body Lead: rock step, lower left arm, put LF' heel next to RF's, facing backwards, lead lady across on c-c-C. RF back to rock step.  Face each other for c-c-C.

    Variation: lady does reverse turn.

  9. Cross Over Triples: like progressive, but on c-c-C, one foot is in front (back) of the other.  Do 3 times back, rock step, 3 times forward.

  10. Swivels: after cross-over to the right, hold both hands high (stop sign), c-c-C, swivel, swivel, c-c-C, end with a cross-over.

  11. Number Fours: cross-over to the right, instead of bringing back the forward LF, bring forward the RF, facing each other, with the RF in the air (number 4 pose), bring it down for the c-c-C timing (but just hold), rock step back to c-c-C, do to the other side.

  12. Peek-a-boo: after c-c-C, RF to the left, switch hands (left one on top), man goes behind lady while holding both hands, goes to one side (one arm up, the other down: the lady rocks back on the foot where the man has his hand down).  Do an even number of times.  To finish, man brings left hand behind neck and lets go of hand, the same with the right hand.
